The week ahead might be a short one, but we’ve still got plenty of great events for you before and during the long weekend!
In theatre news, two works from iconic playwrights are opening this week: The Road to Mecca by Athol Fugard starts at the Fugard Studio on Tuesday 20th and Sweet Bird of Youth by Tennessee Williams opens at the Artscape Arena on Saturday 31st. And in music news, the Philharmonia Choir of Cape Town is teaming up with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra to perform Handel’s Messiah on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, while Kahn Morbe and Karen Zoid are featured in the final Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concert on Sunday 1st.
At the movies this week, The Galileo Open Air Cinema is screening Trails In Motion MTB Film Festival (at Bloemendal Wine Estate on Tuesday 27th), City Of Angels (at Kirstenbosch on Wednesday 28th), The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button (at the V&A Waterfront on Thursday 29th), Top Gun (at the Alphen Boutique Hotel on Friday 30th), and Rise of the Guardians (at Kelvin Grove on Sunday 1st). Ster-Kinekor is also releasing Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One on Thursday 29th.
