In theatre news, the Baxter has three productions opening this week: Aunty Merle, The Musical (nominated for four prestigious Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards) is back for another run from Monday 2nd, Comedy Central is presenting Puppet Guy with ventriloquist Conrad Koch from Tuesday 3rd, and Jennifer Ferguson is performing a series of four emotive concerts called #WeToo from Wednesday 4th. Speaking of music, Morcheeba will be performing live at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens on Friday 6th, Prime Circle is giving a free concert in De Waal Park on Sunday 8th, Goodluck is featured at Vergenoegd in Stellenbosch on Sunday 8th, and the Cape Town Electronic Music Festival is on this weekend.
At the movies, The Galileo Open Air Cinema is screening Dirty Dancing (at Bloemendal Wine Estate on Tuesday 3rd), The Sound Of Music (at Kirstenbosch on Wednesday 4th), The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (at the V&A Waterfront on Thursday 5th), 50 First Dates (at Meerendal Wine Estate on Friday 6th), and The Notebook (at Plaisir De Merle Wine Estate on Saturday 7th). Ster-Kinekor is also releasing the South African film Five Fingers for Marseille and the horror A Quiet Place this weekend, while The Fugard Bioscope is screening The Winter’s Tale on Sunday 8th.
Speaking of winter, the seasons are changing and it’s best to enjoy summer while it lasts. How?
