In theatre news, the annual Suidoosterfees starts on Thursday 26th. One highlight from many great choices at the Artscape is the operetta Die Fledermaus from Friday 27th, while another musical treat (albeit not part of the festival) is Freedom of the City, featuring Black Coffee and other top artists at the Castle of Good Hope on Sunday 29th.
You can enjoy more live performances with Tailor’s #1000MilesTour (on Tuesday 24th at Café Roux in Cape Town, Thursday 26th at Café Roux in Noordhoek, and Sunday 29th at Cottage Club in Fish Hoek); Benjamin Jeptha’s Electrik Tour (on Thursday 26th at Harringtons, Friday 27th at Castello’s Jazz Bistro, Sunday 29th at Jazz in the Native Yards as well as Olympia Bakery, and Tuesday 1st at Hank’s Olde Irish); and Femi Koya’s Village Afrobeat Tour (on Thursday 26th at The Brass Bell, Friday 27th at Café Roux in Cape Town, and Saturday 28th at Cape Farmhouse as well as the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre).
At the movies this week, The Galileo Open Air Cinema ends for the season with The Ugly Truth (at Bloemendal Wine Estate on Tuesday 24th), Sixteen Candles (at Kirstenbosch on Wednesday 25th), Blood Diamond (at the V&A Waterfront on Thursday 26th), and Schindler’s List (at Meerendal Wine Estate on Friday 27th). Ster-Kinekor is also releasing the anticipated Avengers: Infinity Wars on Thursday 26th (just in time for the annual FanCon this weekend), with Cinema Nouveau screening Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte from Saturday 28th and the Fugard Bioscope screening Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Sunday 29th.
