17 September to 23 September

Celebrate the season and something special in this week’s guide.

In music news, Youngblood Gallery is hosting a concert In The Dark on Wednesday 19th, Blood Brothers are at Zip Zap Circus School on Saturday 22nd, and the Stellenbosch University Choir is performing at the Endler Hall on Sunday 23rd. Also on this weekend are Earthdance 2018 and the second annual Cape Town Baroque Festival, both from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd.

To celebrate our six-month anniversary on Wednesday 19th, here’s where to find the best cakes in Cape Town and the winelands as well retro desserts across the country. Indeed, if you’re out of town or in the mood for a trip, we’ve got you covered with lunch and dinner ideas in the winelands and four restaurants with waste-free cooking. And if you’d like to work off all those sweet treats, take a walk at Open Streets Indaba on Wednesday 19th or a run at the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon on Sunday 23rd.

Finally, to celebrate the spring equinox on Friday 21st, here’s where to view the Cape’s wildflowers, what to enjoy in Cape Town’s flower season, and how to welcome spring in Cape Town. Further afield (excuse the pun) you can also enjoy the Hermanus Flower Festival this long weekend or plan your Wild Flower Camp up the West Coast, all while thinking about where to eat once you’ve seen the flowers. It’s a blooming good time to explore this beautiful part of the world!
