4 March to 10 March

From wizards and walking to words and wine, this week’s guide is filled to the brim!

In entertainment news, the Cape Town International Animation Festival comes to Observatory from Friday 8th, Guitar Wizards is in Elgin on Saturday 9th, and Matthew Mole is performing at Kirstenbosch on Sunday 10th.

Staying outdoors, the Galileo Open Air Cinema has four screenings this week: Reel Rock 13 at Kirstenbosch on Wednesday 6th, The Theory Of Everything in Rondebosch on Thursday 7th, Grease at Century City on Friday 8th, and Crazy Stupid Love in Wellington on Saturday 9th.

In theatre news, the Zabalaza Festival starts at the Baxter Theatre on Friday 8th, Woordfees ends in Stellenbosch this weekend, and the 54th annual Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards takes place at the Artscape Theatre on Sunday 10th.

If you want to get active, you can take a hike with the Simon’s Town Walking Tour on Saturday 9th or go for a ride at the Cape Town Cycle Tour on Sunday 10th. And if you want to explore further afield, now’s a great time for a West Coast road trip.

Sleep at Dwarskersbos, drink at the best West Coast beach bars, and eat at Wolfgat, where Kobus van der Merwe (winner of the Eat Out S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna Chef of the Year) was recently honoured to win World’s Best Restaurant (and Off-Map Destination) at the inaugural World Restaurant Awards. What a victory for us all!
